About this policy
This policy describes Wordie’s handling of information, including its word games, accounts, groups, advertising and purchases. Retro LLC operates Wordie. Its App Store listing identifies the store seller. For privacy requests, contact support@retro.llc. Features and choices can vary by platform and app version.
Account and game information
When you create or use an account, we receive an account identifier, your email address where supplied, the nickname/profile information you choose, and authentication information. Apple or Google sign-in provides authorized identity information, such as a provider-specific identifier, name or email address. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
We store gameplay and progress information, including puzzle identifiers, guesses or turn results, completion times, scores, streaks, achievements, hints and rewards, and preferences needed to save or synchronize play. We also store group names/descriptions, membership, invitations or join requests, roles and related activity. Other players can see profile, group and score information made available by the relevant group or leaderboard feature. Searchable group information can be seen by players looking for a group; do not include private information in it.
If you contact us, we receive your email address and the information you send, including any screenshots or attachments. We use it to answer your request, troubleshoot problems and maintain necessary support records. Please avoid sending passwords, payment-card details or unnecessary sensitive information.
How we provide the service
We use Google Firebase for authentication, databases, backend services, configuration, security checks, analytics, crash reporting and notifications. These services process account and app-installation identifiers, technical device and app information, network/request information and feature-specific data. Firebase App Check helps verify legitimate app requests. Analytics helps us understand feature usage and ad delivery; Crashlytics helps investigate crashes and reliability.
See Firebase’s privacy and security information and Google’s Privacy Policy. Apple handles App Store distribution, Apple sign-in and Apple purchases under its privacy policies.
On versions offering dictionary lookups, requested words are sent to Wiktionary to obtain definitions. Wikimedia receives the request and normal network information such as an IP address. Definitions may be cached on your device. See the Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy.
Advertising and privacy choices
Wordie uses Google AdMob to display ads, including optional rewarded ads where offered. Google’s advertising services may process IP addresses (including approximate location derived from them), device or app identifiers, ad views and interactions, product interactions, and diagnostic/performance information for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention and analytics. Personalized advertising or cross-app tracking can involve additional use of this information when permitted by your choices and applicable rules.
Use Settings → Privacy & Ads → Manage privacy choices on supported versions to review the consent options available in your region. On iOS, you can also manage tracking permission in system Settings. Denying tracking does not necessarily remove ads or stop the processing needed for contextual advertising, security or basic measurement. Ad-free benefits remove covered ad placements, not the account, gameplay and security processing needed to run the app.
We do not sell a list of players’ names or email addresses. Advertising disclosures may nevertheless be treated as “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising under some privacy laws. Use the available privacy choices or contact us to exercise applicable opt-out rights. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Purchases and notifications
Apple or Google processes purchases made through its store. We receive transaction or entitlement information needed to validate purchases, deliver benefits, restore access and prevent fraud; we do not receive full payment-card details from the store. Deleting an app or game account does not cancel a store subscription.
If you enable notifications, device registration tokens, account associations and delivery/preferences information are used to route relevant reminders or group activity. You can change notification settings in the app where offered and in your device settings. Some reminders are scheduled locally. Local settings, caches, progress and authentication state may remain on your device until you clear them or remove the app; store/cloud backups can have separate copies.
Retention and deletion
Keep account information accurate using the available account settings. To delete your Wordie account, use Settings → Delete Account while signed in, or contact support if you cannot access the app. Account deletion removes active account data and starts cleanup of associated gameplay, group membership and notification records. Groups that still serve other members can remain. Limited deletion/security records may be retained to prevent stale sessions from recreating erased information.
Uninstalling or signing out is not server-account deletion. Deletion of the Wordie account does not delete information independently held by Apple, Google, other services you used, or people with whom you shared content, and does not cancel subscriptions. Use your store’s subscription controls separately.
We retain information for the purposes described here, considering whether you still use the relevant service, unresolved support requests, security needs and applicable legal obligations. Service-provider logs and recovery backups follow separate retention cycles. Removing information from an active system does not necessarily remove every backup copy immediately. Contact us to ask about retention or deletion for your situation.
Choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, obtain a copy of, delete or restrict the use of your personal information; object to certain processing; withdraw consent for future processing; or appeal our response. You may also complain to your local privacy regulator. Contact support@retro.llc to make a request. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity or authority to act for another person. We will not penalize you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
Where a legal basis is required, we process information to provide the service you request, pursue legitimate interests such as security and support, comply with legal obligations, or act on your consent where required. Withdrawing a permission may prevent the related feature from working.
Security and international processing
We and our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Privacy protections may differ between countries. You can contact us for information about the providers and safeguards applicable to your information. No internet service or device is completely secure; we use safeguards appropriate to the information and service.
Children and changes
Wordie is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Where local law requires parental permission for an older minor, that permission is required.
Do not share children’s personal information through group/profile fields or support requests. If you believe a child has provided personal information that should be removed, contact support@retro.llc. Parents and guardians should review the app’s store age rating, account and advertising features, and device privacy controls before a child uses the app.
We update this policy when practices change and provide additional notice or obtain consent when required. This page’s date identifies the current revision. See our Terms of Use and website privacy notice.
